Ever taken what someone said and completely misinterpreted it?

My colleague said she had only 4 dates today, she is really tired, and not thinking straight. I was kind of stumped for a while. It took me a while before I said "oh, you mean food". She said of course food she's never had a date. She must think I'm a complete **** :-/
