My wife was diagnosed with HSV-2!!!?

So after 10 years and 2 children my wife showed up with HSV-2 symptoms on her lowerback/upper thigh. This was confirmed with a swab culture, but she was negative for antibodies in the blood test!?. Neither of us have ever had an outbreak and I have been to clinics and doctors that will not do the blood test b/c they say it is too inaccurate. What do you think?
